AND THE OSCAR GOES TO ...

    2013 IES VECINDARIO ACADEMY AWARDS

Hi and welcome back!
Here we are again. Christmas holidays are over and we are back full of energy and willing to become movie stars!! Yes, the Oscars ceremony is getting nearer and my students of 1ºbachillerato are preparing different film scenes as a speaking exercise for this second term. It's a really motivating way of encouring them to speak and act while having fun! And who knows? Maybe the next Brad Pitt or Angelina Jolie may come out from this wonderful experience! Have a look at the following document and follow the instructions:

                                  2nd TERM SPEAKING PROJECT – 1º BACH.

                                                        INSTRUCTIONS

1.- Choose a scene from any film or series you like (it should be around 5 minutes long).

2.- Hand out a written document with the following details about the film: (only in English)

·         Name of the film.

·         Year the film was made.

·         Genre of the film.

·         Nationality of the film.

·         Name of the director.

·         Name the main actors and actresses and the names they use in the film.

·         Make a brief summary of the film (some lines only).

·         Make a short summary of the scene you have chosen from the film.

·         Write the script of the scene you have chosen.

·         Give the name of the participants in the project and say who is playing each role in the scene. ( 3 or 4 people should be OK)

·         Say why you have chosen the film and that special scene ( from 8 to 10 lines).

·         Give your opinion about using films to learn English ( about 100-120 words )

This document must be handed out before the 1st of February 2013.

3.- Act the scene out. Don’t forget to use the appropriate costumes and setting and the extra actors or actresses that you need. Record it and send it to your English teacher so that she can upload it on the blog or show it in the classroom. You can also upload your video on Youtube and send your teacher the link to: paquiprofeingles@gmail.com. The written document should be also sent to this e-mail address as soon as possible.

The recording of the scene must be sent before the 11th of February 2013.

4.- You’ll have the opportunity to watch all the filmed scenes and vote for the one you like best. Besides, you’ll also vote for your favourite actor or actress.

5.- After the votes, there will be four nominations in each one of the categories mentioned above. The winners will get their prize at a small Oscars ceremony in class in the month of February or March, depending on when the real Oscars Ceremony in Hollywood takes place.

COME ON! YOU MAY BE HOLLYWOOD’S NEXT FILM STAR!
